The Maximum number of wickets taken in Test Cricket and One Day International is by one cricketer in both the formats and his name is “Muttiah Muralitharan” from team Sri Lanka.
He took retirement from International Cricket in Test Match format in the year 2010 and in One Day Match Format in the year 2011. In his Test Match Career, he took total 800 wickets in a career span of 18 years from 1992 to 2010. Whereas, in One Day International Career he took total 534 wickets in a career span of 18 years as well from 1993 to 2011.
He has been titled with the “Greatest Test Match Bowler” in the year 2002, by “Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack”. He is the only Sri Lankan Cricketer who inducted into ‘ICC Hall of Fame’, in 2017. He is been acknowledged as one of the most successful bowlers in the Test Cricket holding an average of above 6 wickets per Test Match.
After surpassing the highest wicket-taker ‘Courtney Walsh, West Indies’ record of 519 Test Match Wicket, he received the ‘Guard of Honor’ in Harare in the year 2004. He holds the unique distinction record of taking 10 or more wickets in a match against the Nine Test Playing Nation.
