“Alec Bedser” is the former England fast bowler. He is the only bowler to dismiss Bradman for a duck twice in Test Match. His full name was “Sir Alec Victor Bedser”. He has been widely acknowledged as one of the Best English Cricketer of the 20th Century.
He played for the England Team till 1963. After retirement, Alec Bedser became the Chairman Selectors for the British (English) National Team. He made his debut in Test Cricket against India at Lords in 1946.
He became theOfficer of the ‘Order of the British Empire’ (OBE) in 1964, after that promoted to ‘Commander of the British Empire’ (CBE) in 1985. In 1996, he became the lone England Bowler to be ‘Knighted for Services to Cricket’. In May 2009, Bedser ranked 29th in Christopher Martin-Jenkins while picking his 100 greatest cricketers of all time.
