He represented Bangladesh in all formats of cricket. He also led his team as a Captain from 2007 to 2009. He captained his country in 13 Test Matches and, 38 One Day Internationals (ODIs). He is the second highest run scorer of Bangladesh Team in both One Day International and Test Cricket formats.
Ashraful holds the title of scoring fastest fifty among all Bangladeshi Cricketer in all formats .e. One Day, Test and T20 International Cricket.
He made his International Career debut in One Day International Cricket on April 11, 2001, against team Zimbabwe. He scored only 9 runs in his debut match. In the same year, on September 6, he made his Test Cricket debut against Sri Lanka. In his debut match he performed well in both the innings and made his first test century (114 runs) and became the youngest player to score the test century, but still, Bangladesh lost the match by an inning. He was named the Man of the Match for his performance in the debut match.
