The Uber Cup is a significant international badminton championshipplayed by women's national badminton teams. It is also known as the World Team Championships for Women. It was first held in 1956–1957 and was held every three years until 1984, when it was amalgamated with the Thomas Cup, the world men's team championship, and has been held every two years since then. The Badminton World Federation decided in 2007 to divide the Thomas and Uber Cup finals once more, however, the plan was eventually dropped.

Betty Uber, a former British women's badminton player, proposed holding a women's event equivalent to the men's in 1950, and the Uber Cup was born. She also made the draw for the first event in 1956–1957, which was held in Lytham St. Annes, Lancashire, England.

The format of the cup is identical to that of the Thomas Cup men's competition. China has won 15 titles as of the 2020 competition, making them the most successful team. Japan ranks second with six championships, followed by Indonesia and the United States with three apiece.

In 1956, the year the inaugural Uber Cup event was contested, the trophy was officially handed at the annual general meeting. Mappin & Webb, a well-known silversmith on London's Regent Street, created it. A revolving globe on top of a plinth and a female player standing on top of a shuttlecock make up the award, which is 20 inches tall.
