Sir Chandulal Madhavlal Trivedi was the first governor of Punjab after independence in 1947. He held the office from 15th August 1947 to 11th March 1953. He was succeeded by Sir Chandeshwar Prasad Narayan Singh.

Sir Chandulal Madhavlal Trivedi was born on 2nd July 1893 in Kapadvanj, Kaira District, Bombay Presidency, British India (now Kheda district, Gujarat, India). He completed his education from Bombay University (now University of Mumbai) and from St. John’s College, Oxford. He was also the Governor of Odisha from 1st April 1946 to 14th August 1947. Sir Chandulal Madhavlal Trivedi was the first Governor of Andhra Pradesh from 1st October 1953 to 1st August 1957. He passed away on 15th March 1980 at the age of 86 in Kapadvanj, Kaira District (now Kheda district, Gujarat, India). He was knighted in 1945. He was a Companion of the Order of the Indian Empire (CIE) in 1935. It is the Most Eminent Order of the Indian Empire an order of chivalry founded by Queen Victoria in 1878. He was also appointed as an officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1931. He was also the Companion of the Order of the Star of India (CSI) in 1941. He was appointed a Knight Commander of the Order of the Star of India (KCSI) on 21st December 1945. Apart from these honours, Sir Chandulal Madhavlal Trivedi was awarded the Padma Vibhushan (the second highest civilian award of the Republic of India) in 1956.
