**Sir Chandulal Madhavlal Trivedi** was the **first governor of Punjab** after independence in **1947**. He held the office from **15th August 1947 to 11th March 1953**. He was succeeded by **Sir Chandeshwar Prasad Narayan Singh**.

Sir Chandulal Madhavlal Trivedi was born on **2nd July 1893** in **Kapadvanj, Kaira District, Bombay Presidency, British India** (now **Kheda district, Gujarat, India**). He completed his education from **Bombay University** (now **University of Mumbai**) and from **St. John’s College, Oxford**. He was also the **Governor of Odisha** from **1st April 1946 to 14th August 1947**. Sir Chandulal Madhavlal Trivedi was the **first Governor of Andhra Pradesh** from **1st October 1953 to 1st August 1957**. He passed away on **15th March 1980** at the age of **86** in Kapadvanj, Kaira District (now Kheda district, Gujarat, India). He was **knighted** in **1945**. He was a **Companion of the Order of the Indian Empire (CIE)** in **1935**. It is the **Most Eminent Order of the Indian Empire** an order of chivalry founded by **Queen Victoria** in **1878**. He was also appointed as an officer of the **Order of the British Empire (OBE)** in **1931**. He was also the **Companion of the Order of the Star of India (CSI)** in **1941**. He was appointed a **Knight Commander** of the **Order of the Star of India (KCSI)** on **21st December 1945**. Apart from these honours, Sir Chandulal Madhavlal Trivedi was awarded the **Padma Vibhushan (the second highest civilian award of the Republic of India)** in **1956**.

The total population of the state as per the **2011** census is 27,704,236. Punjabi is being spoken by the inhabitants of the state. At present, **V P Singh Badnore** is the **Governor** of the state and **Captain Amarinder Singh** is the **Chief Minister of Punjab**.
