The 61st National Shooting Championship Competitions was held at Thiruvananthapuram. Anisa Sayyed from Haryana won the women’s25m pistol gold at the championship. The national shooting championship was held from 11th to 31st December 2017 at the National Games shooting range in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The event was organized by the National Rifle Association of India. Anisa shot a score of 33 in the finals for the gold medal. Shital Shivaji Thorat from Maharashtra won the silver medal with a score of 30 while Rani Sarnobat bagged the bronze medal with a score of 28. Anisa Sayyed broke the national record of 28 set by Annu Raj Singh.
Anisa Sayyed was born on 22nd September 1980 in Wai, Maharashtra, India. Originally belonging to Satara district of Pune, Anisa represented India at 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. She won two gold medals at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Anisa won gold in 25m pistol pairs and in 25m pistol. She won the silver medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games at Glasgow. She won the silver medal in the 25m pistol category. In the 2014 Incheon Asian Games Anisa won the bronze medal in the 25m pistol team event.

The aim of the organization is to promote the shooting sports in India. Mr Raninder Singh a shooter from the Patiala Royal Family is the President of National Rifle Association of India (NRAI).
