The Constitution of India was adopted by the Constituent Assembly in English Originally there was no provision of authoritative text. That was in English language at the time of British rule. And after ending the British rule, there was the demand to publish Indian constitution in Hindi Language under the subsequent amendment and then 58th constitution Amendment Act, Article 394A part XXII is introduced to translate authoritative text in HINDI.

Article 394 A deals with the Authoritative Text of the Constitution in Hindi Language. The Constitution did not provide authoritative text of the Constitution in the Hindi language. The 58th Constitution Amendment Act, 1987 Article 394-A in Part XXII inserted of the Constitution. 9th December, 1987 an Act further to amend the Constitution of India. (Fifty-eighth Amendment) AUTHORITATIVE TEXT IN HINDI' inserted.

Translation of constitution in Hindi should be publish under the presidential authority signed by the members of the constitution with modifications which are necessary to bring it in conformity with the language, style and terminology adopted in the authoritative texts of Central Acts in the Hindi language. The meaning of Hindi translation of constitution should be the same as that of English. The translation of the Constitution and its amendment published shall be construed to have the same meaning as the original text in the English language. If any problem or difficulty arises in any part of such translation, the President shall cause the same to be revised suitably.
