He is a middle distance runner, who earlier won the 800m Silver at the Worlds in France and having the timing of 1:53.59s. He dominated the race since the starting and defeating his nearest rivals from Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh to the second and third position respectively.
‘Khelo India School Games’ has been renamed as ‘Khelo India Youth Games’. It is organized annually in the month of January or February, at the National Level. The game has been organized under two age categories i.e. 17 years for School Students and 21 years for College Students. It is a Grassroot Talent Hunt Competition which is organized only for Indian Students.
In the inaugural event of Khelo India Youth Games in 2018, the students were competing for 209 Gold Medals in total 16 sporting events. The events have taken place in Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium Complex, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Dhyan Chand National Stadium, and Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range.
It is a type of Talent Hunt Competition which provides Scholarship to its best athletes. Each sport had a specific Talent Hunt Committee, which selects 2 best Sportsperson for each sport and they have given a Scholarship Annually of INR 598,000/- for consecutive 8 years.
In the 2018 edition of Khelo Youth Games, Haryana has been the top ranking state with 38 Golds, 26 Silver, and 38 Bronze, followed by Maharashtra and Delhi at second and third place respectively. Whereas in 2019 edition of games Maharashtra outstand with total 228 Medals (85 Golds, 62 Silver, and 81 Bronze), and Haryana and Delhi were at second and third place respectively .
