Who has been sworn-in as the new Chief Justice of Kerala?
The oath ceremony of Justice Dominic was administered by Kerala Governor ‘P. Sadasivam’ in the presence of Chief Minister of Kerala ‘Pinarayi Vijayan’ at Raj Bhawan in Thiruvananthapuram. The oath ceremony has been witnessed by the Senior High Court Judges, Judicial Officers, Cabinet Ministers, Political Leaders, and ranking Police Officers. Paul Antony the Chief Secretary read out the Presidential order of appointing Justice Dominic as the Chief Justice of Kerala.
In the last 17 years, he has been the first local Kerala person to occupy the top post. Before him, the last local person to hold the post was Justice K.K. Usha in the year 2001. He completed his law education from SDM Law College at Mangalore.
Justice Dominic started his career from practicing in Munsiff’s Court and JFCM, Kanjirappally in the year 1981. After sometime he started his practice in the High Court of Kerala at Ernakulam in the year 1986. Then in January 2007, he has been appointed as the Additional Judge of the Kerala High Court. In the very next year, by December 2008, he was made the permanent judge. Then in the year 2017, on November 6, he was promoted as the Acting Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court, after the retirement of Justice Navaniti Prasad Singh. He served as the Chief Justice of Kerala High Court for a short period of time. He started his tenure as Chief Justice of Kerala High Court from February 6, 2018, and his working tenure ended on May 29, 2018.
