The 2018, 11th Tal Memorial Chess Tournament in Moscow was won by five-times World Champion and the Indian Chess Master, “Vishwanathan Anand”.

He finished the Championship as a winner with 6.0 points out of 9 points. However, the second position holder with 5 points is ‘Shakhriyar Mamedyarov’ of Azerbaijan. The Chess Tournament event is a 10 player single Round-Robin competition format. In the event, players were having 25 minutes to make all of their moves, as well as, get a 10 second of increment from move 1. In the event, he scored 4 wins and 4 draws.
For the final score of winning he defeated Ian Nepomniachtchi, Alexander Grischuk, and Daniil Dubov of Russia and Hikaru Nakamura of United States. Whereas, his most important won was over Grischuk in the penultimate round which sealed the title for Vishwanathan Anand. In the final round, he won against Boris Gelfand of Israel. This trophy adds to Anand’s world rapid title won in Riyadh over a period of two months. The all the 10 top players of the event were competing for a $130,000 Prize fund along with $25,000 for the 1st place.

The Tal Memorial Rapid Chess Tournament was organized in the memory of ‘Mikhail Tal’. However, the 11th Memorial Chess tournament was organized in Moscow, the venue was the Museum of Russia Impressionists in Moscow.  
Anand became the first Indian Grandmaster in 1988. He even became the undisputed World Champion in 2007 and defended his title in 2008 as well against Vladimir Kramnik. However, in 2010, he beat Veselin Topalov in the World Championship Title. In April 2007, he became the number 1 Chess Player and holds the place for continuous 21 months. In the same year, he has been awarded the second highest civilian award the Padma Vibhushan.
