CHENNAIYIN FOOTBALL CLUB has won the second edition of INDIAN SUPER LEAGUE 2015 football tournament. In the final played at the JAWAHAR LAL NEHRU STADIUM GOA, they defeated hosts Goa FC by 3-2 goals score. Chennaiyin FC one of the most impressive team from the inaugural season of Indian Super league. 

Till the 87 minute final match Goa was leading by 2-1 goals but the self goal from their keeper Laxminath kattimani in the 90 minute and Colombian stiven Mendoza’sstrike second later helped Chennaiyin the title.

Chennaiyin FC almost perfect run in the semis that must have hurt the franchise after sitting top off the table with 6 wins 5 draws and just 3 losses before the knockout phase started. Their 3-0 laws in the first leg in the semi final was shocking but they made a brilliant fight Back in the second with 3 goals before Goa scored the winner in the dying moment to break heart in Chennai. Elano blumerturn out to be the star performer for them last year and was also the top scorer in the league. The MS Dhoni and Abhishek Bachchan co-owned team scored the most goal in the league and were the favorite team to clinch the title but the slump in their form in a crucial moment saw them getting knockout of the tournament. The team return to Chennai to a warm welcome earlier this week after completing their pre- season training in Perugia, Italy.

Chennaiyin strengths last year was there free flowing game that involved short and quick passes and having maximum possession of the ball. They had one of the best midfield during the first season and this season they have retained the core of their team while trying to further improve already strong defense. Their marquee player Elano is the most complete midfielder in the league and their manager, Marco materzzai is the brilliant tactician and analyses the opponent’s very well.

WEAKNESS –the biggest weakness that come out during the last season was that Chennai not able to convert opportunities that created by the midfield into goals. Elon’s role is not that a finisher what he had to the maximum leg work and they had try to convert to those chances into goals.One more cause of concern for Chennai could be in ability to perform under pressure situation. Last year they were the table toppers and favorite to win the title but their 3-0 loss in the semis was a shocker. They also get rid of their habit over dependence on a single player and other play need to step up and perform in Big matches

Chennaiyin FC is a Chennai (Tamil Nadu) based ISL franchise. The franchise is owned by Indian cricketer Mahindra Singh Dhoni Vita dani and Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan. The club was founded in august during the inaugural season of Indian super league. Chennaiyin are the reigning champions of 2017-18. The team name Chennaiyin fan club means Chennai Football Club in Tamil where ‘yin’ suffix is similar to apostrophe S in English.The team logo is Drashti Bommani, representation of Chasing away negativity and preserving possibility in the Tamil culture. The club is also known for its recently increase fan base which also has two official supporters group-B stand blues and super Machen’s. Chennaiyin enjoy a healthy rivalries with its neighbor state club Bangalore FC and Kerala Blaster when any match between the trio is referred as ‘the southern Derby’ 

When the Indian super league was founded in 2014 the Chennai was 9 of first proposed cities up for a franchise biding the club officially launched their Jersey 9 October 2014. They also announce that real estate developer Ozone group will be there principal shirt sponsor for the season.

Unlike, most football league around the world the Indian super league does not use promotion relegation instead choosing to grow the league expansion similar to major League soccer in North America. During the four season of the league two teams have crowned champions both winning twice each. ATK won the first title in 2014 and then they won it for the second time during the 2016 season. Chennaiyin are the other club to be crowned as the champions, the Tamil Nadu Based club won the title in 2015.
