The 61st Britannia Filmfare Award were announced on January 15, 2016. The Award ceremony was organized at NSCI Dome in Mumbai. The event was hosted by Kapil Sharma and Shah Rukh Khan. The award function was of about 180 minutes.

Bajirao Mastani dominated the whole award show and bags received 9 awards in different categories and Best Film is one of these awards. Total nomination Bajirao Mastani got is in 12 different categories. This movie dominated the whole Filmfare Awards of 2016. Sanjay Leela Bhansali bags the Award for Best Director. Ranveer Singh awarded the Best Actor for the same movie. Whereas, Priyanka Chopra won the Best Actor in a Supporting Role Female for Bajirao Mastani as well. In musical category, Shreya Ghoshal won the Best Playback Singer Female for Bajirao Mastani song.

In Critics Choice Category, Bajirao Mastani bags the award of Best Choreography ‘Pt. Birju Maharaj’. And for Best Costume and Best Production Design in the critics’ choice. These awards were telecasted on Sony Television on February 7, 2016.
