Renaissance was an important development in Europe in the 14th -17 th century. It denoted great achievements in art, science and literature as well. Artists, scientists and writers contributed findings and other new ideas which became the foundation on which the modern world has been founded.

In art, there was the development of perspective, proportion and realness. It was the time of great art works by such artists as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo who painted the Mona Lisa and the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel respectively. They laid stress on human feelings and realistic presentation of the people, their work influenced the imagination of several generations of artists and defined the renaissance humanistic view of people.

In science, huge discoveries changed the prevailing beliefs. Other concepts concerning the universe and the field of astronomy were brought by Galileo Galilei and Nicolaus Copernicus. The anatomy and physics advances leadership to knowledge of the man. Scientific works were able to circulate the world right through the printing press and everyone had access to research and knowledge.

Literature also got better during this era when Dante, Petrarch and Shakespeare were concerned with human experiences, emotions and society. The printing press created more books that led to easy access to literature by many people and the emergence of new ideas.

Renaissance developments in art, science and literature are precursors of modern developments. It was in this period that humankind was able to give to the creative will and intellectual progression that remains there up to date.

The permanent accomplishments in art and science and literature were the legacy of the Renaissance. It presented to the world the world with realistic art works and new scientific discoveries and writings. These contributions brought about revolution in human cognizance and continue to be relevant today. It is one of the most characteristic historical times that marked modern thinking and culture.
