Is star topology better than mesh topology?

## Answers

### Answer by Hitesh Vohra

- The **Star topology a**rranges the nodes in a star shape, with the central hub connecting all of them. In the mesh configuration, on the other hand, each node is connected to the other node.
- The star topology allows for simple installation and reconfiguration. In contrast, the **mesh topology** necessitates more transmission media, as well as more effort and time for installation and reconfiguration.
- To some extent, star topology is less expensive than mesh topology.
- The star topology has a disadvantage in that an inoperative central hub can render the entire system inoperable. The mesh topology, on the other hand, is more robust than the star topology.
- Twisted pair cable is the only transmission medium used in star topology. Mesh topology, on the other hand, can use any transmission media, such as twisted pair cable, coaxial cable, or optical fibre, but it requires more cabling.
