When your computer connects to their service, most ISPs merely require the correct user name and password. This is something that Mac OS X can perform without any additional software. Follow the steps outlined in the technical document 106282: 'Setup Assistant Does Not Accommodate DSL User Name and Password in Mac OS X 10.0.' The abbreviation PPPoE stands for Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet. PPPoE is the protocol that your ISP employs to send and receive data between computers.
