- It has the potential to make the financial system safer: Allowing individuals, private firms, and non-bank financial organisations to settle directly with central bank money (rather than bank deposits) reduces liquidity and credit risk in payment systems dramatically.
- As a result, huge banks' systemic relevance is reduced. Furthermore, by providing a truly risk-free alternative to bank deposits, a transition from bank deposits to digital cash eliminates the need for government deposit guarantees, removing a source of moral hazard from the financial system.
- They can be used to pay for both products and services. They're also forbidden in some online communities, such as gaming sites, gambling websites, and social networking sites. Instant transactions that can be carried out across borders are also possible with digital currency.
