- The Reserve Bank of India, or RBI, is India's central bank and regulatory organisation in charge of overseeing the country's financial sector. It is owned by the Government of India's Ministry of Finance. It is in charge of issuing and distributing the Indian rupee.
- It also oversees the country's key payment networks and seeks to boost the country's economic growth. The RBI's Bharatiya Reserve Bank Note Mudran is a specialised division that prints and mints Indian bank notes and coins.
