- Finding your **iPad's model number** is the quickest way to figure out what kind of iPad you have. The first approach doesn't even require you to switch on your iPad; all you have to do is look at the rear. 'iPad' is carved there, with smaller print beneath it that includes the capital letter 'A' followed by a series of digits. Your model number is that.
- You can use this approach for iPad serial number search if you have your device in a case and don't want to take it out or don't want to use a magnifying glass to view the tiny print:
- Launch the Settings application.
- Select General.
- Select About.
- A lengthier number that ends in 'A' may appear in the Model Number section. This is the SKU number for your iPad. To see your model number, tap once on this part. A shorter number that starts with 'A' will appear.
