- For a long time, the iPad has enabled **handwriting recognition** for Simplified Chinese and other non-Roman character languages. The iPad includes a 'Scribble' feature that converts handwritten English into typed characters starting with iPadOS 14.
- Enter text in Notes with the Apple Pencil.
- Tap the Handwriting tool in the Markup toolbar (to the left of the pen). Scribble instantly turns your handwriting into typed text when you write with an Apple Pencil.
