It does all of the computer's calculations and executes the programme that you specify. The CPU is often a two-inch ceramic chip with a silicon chip within the system unit box. These microchips are inserted into the CPU socket on the motherboard and are protected by a heat sink. - The CPU has three primary internal components. - **ALU** is an abbreviation for Arithmetic Logic Unit.
