- Although **e-[mail](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/51487/how-to-fix-email-mail-app-problems-on-the-apple-iphone-se) is [social](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/44257/the-impact-of-social-media-on-lawsuits), it is not called social media**. It's challenging to use the word 'social media' because it only refers to a subset of media that can be considered social. Effective mass collaboration is the key to social media success (v. mass communication, team collaboration, etc.).
- Social media is a collaborative mechanism, while e-mail is a distribution method.
- Mass collaboration is not the same as mass communication.
- Electronic mail, or 'email,' is a fast means to deliver messages to people all over the world using computer technology. You send an email to the address of someone else. You can also include an attachment with your message, such as a file or images.
