- **A microprocessor** is a computer's Central Processing Unit (CPU) that is based on a single Integrated Circuit (IC).
- A microcomputer is a digital computer with one microprocessor that serves as the CPU.
- It's a programmable, multipurpose, clock-driven, register-based electrical device that takes binary data as input, processes it according to the instructions, and outputs the results. Millions of tiny components such as transistors, registers, and diodes work together in the microprocessor.
- An ALU, control unit, and register array make up a microprocessor. When data is received from an input device or memory, the ALU executes arithmetic and logical operations on it. The computer's instructions and data flow are controlled by the control unit.
