- **Floppy controller**: A 34-pin ribbon cable links the floppy drive to the computer, which then connects to the motherboard. A floppy controller is a device that manages the floppy drive.
- **IDE controller:** 7. EIDE and SCSI are two prevalent types of hard drives defined by industry standards. EIDE drives are found in the majority of PCs. High-end PCs with SCSI discs include network servers and graphical workstations. A 2-inch-wide, 40-pin ribbon cable links the EIDE drive to the hard drive, which then connects to the motherboard. The IDE controller is in charge of managing the hard disc.
