- The term **'[Internet](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/94916/what-should-everyone-know-about-adobe-acrobat-pdf-reader)' i**s used to refer to a global network of computers linked by phone lines and satellites. The term 'internet' is made up of two words.
- The prefix 'inter,' which meaning 'between or among,' is the first. The second part, 'net,' stands for 'network,' which refers to a collection of computers that are linked together.
- The Internet is sometimes simply referred to as 'the Net' by its users. Internet users are said to 'surf the Net' because they use their computers to go from one site to the next (like when you 'channel surf' on the TV with a remote control).
