- **E-mail,** or electronic mail, refers to messages sent and received over a network by digital computers. - On most networks, data can be delivered to an entire universe of users or to a specific group or individual at the same time. Electronic mailboxes are commonly used by network users to receive, store, and manage their correspondence.
- Recipients have the option of viewing, printing, saving, editing, responding, forwarding, or otherwise reacting to communications. Many e-mail systems include additional capabilities that notify users when new messages arrive or allow them to adopt customised privacy settings.
