- In the month of February of 1980, the OSI [model](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/23265/musician-movie-songs-a-must-have-new-model) was launched. As a result, it has been standardised as **802.XX**. The number '80' refers for the year 1980, while the number '2' stands for the month of February.
- IEEE 802 is a set of networking standards that covers the physical and data-link layer specifications for Ethernet and wireless technologies. Local area networks (LANs) and metropolitan area networks (MANs) are covered by these specifications (MAN). IEEE 802 also helps to ensure multi-vendor interoperability by encouraging companies to adopt standards.
