- The **Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)** is an Internet Standard protocol for monitoring and managing network devices linked via the Internet Protocol (IP). SNMP is used to communicate between devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, servers, CCTV cameras, and wireless devices.
- SNMP gathers data from these devices, organises it, and sends it to a network monitoring and management system that includes fault detection and isolation. SNMP is used to communicate between the monitored endpoints and the monitoring system.
- NMP is a protocol for exchanging management data between network devices. It is one of the most widely used network management protocols. The Internet Engineering Task Force defines SNMP as part of the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) package.
