- An **image overlay** is a technique for superimposing one image over another. Most photo editing [**software**](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/96176/what-is-the-most-frustrating-thing-about-using-microsoft-word) includes it as a standard function. The process using Paint, on the other hand, is a little different. Paint is a rudimentary photo editing programme that lacks an Image Overlay feature. To complete this activity, you will need to manually place an image on top of another.
- Choose **'Open' from the 'File' tab.** Use Browse to find the first image you'll use for the image overlay. 'Open' the image by clicking on it.
- Select the **'Select' tool** from the drop-down menu (rectangle icon with dotted lines). Draw a dotted-line frame around the area of the image you want to overlay on another image by dragging. Select 'Copy' from the context menu by right-clicking.
- Return to the 'File' tab and select 'Open.' To get to the second image, use the browse button. Choose 'Open' after clicking on the image.

- Choose 'Paste' from the context menu when you right-click anywhere on the image. The first image will be displayed on top of the second. Move the top image around with your mouse and set it where you want it.

- Select 'Save' from the drop-down menu. To complete the job, type a file name and select 'Save.
