- **Endnotes** appear at the end of the [**document**](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/49880/how-to-open-a-pub-document-on-mac-os-x), while footnotes appear at the bottom of the page. A reference mark in the document corresponds to a number or symbol on the footnote or endnote.
- To refer to a **footnote or endnote**, click where you wish to refer to it.
- Select Insert Footnote or Insert Endnote from the References tab.
- In the footnote or endnote, write whatever you like.
- Double-click the number or symbol at the beginning of the note to return to your previous position in the document.
