- There may be issues with particular documents if [**Word**](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/96164/how-often-do-i-really-need-to-update-microsoft-word) malfunctions or fails to respond exclusively with those documents. One solution is to repair the faulty documents before opening them in Word.
- On your computer, **open Word.** If normal mode doesn't work, go to safe mode.
- In the left sidebar, select the Open option.
- On the next screen, select Browse to search your computer for the faulty document.
- Navigate to the folder where your document is saved, pick it, and then choose Open and Repair from the arrow icon next to Open.
- Word will open and repair your document for you.
