The United Nations operates the **[International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Day_of_Solidarity_with_the_Palestinian_People)**. The United Nations offices in New York, and the United Nations offices in **Geneva, Vienna, and Nairobi**, host events. It is usually celebrated on November 29 every year to commemorate the anniversary of **UN Resolution 181**, which campaigned for the division of Palestine into 2 states: **one Arab and one Jewish**. It was celebrated on **December** 1, 2003. \

The yearly observance was created in **UN General Assembly Resolution** on **December** 2, 1977, with the first year beginning in 1978. The research The **Origins and Evolution of the Palestine Problem** was recommended in the same motion. The creation of historic postcards was proposed in **Resolution** on December 12, 1979. Special memorial events are planned by the **United Nations Secretariat's Division for Palestinian Rights** in collaboration with the **Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People.**
