- The sluggish copying speed of a **USB drive on a [Mac](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/95861/what-is-the-best-way-to-troubleshoot-a-wi-fi-dis-connection-on-a-mac) creates considerable delays in data transfer** to the USB drive. One of the causes could be that you're utilising a USB 2.0 flash drive. This indicates that the USB drive's maximum reading speed is 35 megabytes per second. Because of this, even if you connect to a USB 3.0 connection on your Mac, the transmission speed will be poor. Changing the USB drive is the only way to improve the speed.
- By turning off Spotlight, you can speed up the transfer of files from your USB device. To do so, follow the instructions below: Select Spotlight in System Preferences. Select the Privacy tab from the window.
- To add your USB drive, click the Add button at the bottom. Spotlight will disregard your USB drive the next time you connect it in, allowing you to transfer data normally.
