The African Union Summit 2022 has just begun in **Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, at the AU Centers.** The meeting took place in the middle of several **[military](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/95616/which-british-royal-family-member-has-been-stripped-of-all-his-royal-patronages-and-military-titles)** **coups** and the **continent's coronavirus outbreak**. 6 coups or tried coups in the last 18 months, as well as poor immunization rates, will be addressed during the two-day summit. The **55-member AU** is also under pressure to urge for a truce in Ethiopia, where a 15-month war has slain hundreds and malnourished many more. \

The **AU's Peace and Security Council** has suspended four member states since mid-2021 due to illegitimate changes in government, most notably **Burkina Faso,** where troops deposed **President Roch Marc Christian Kabore** last month.
