- Many search result items make up the Google Search results page. The 'position' metric attempts to show where a specific link was seen on the page in relation to other results on the page. The metric is displayed as average position in Search Console, which averages the position value for all impressions (because the position of the link will be different each time it is seen).
- In Google Search, position is usually measured from top to bottom on the primary side of the page, then from top to bottom on the secondary side. Please keep in mind that this computation method may change in the future. Whether it has a single link or many separate links or child elements, each element in the Search results takes up a single slot.
