The '[**Kolkata class**](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kolkata-class_destroyer#:~:text=The%20%22Kolkata%20class%22%20(Project,operated%20by%20the%20Indian%20Navy.)' is a kind of stealth-guided **carrier battle group built** for the Indian Navy. The series comprised of 3 ships: **Kolkata, Kochi, and Chennai**, that were constructed in India by Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL) and are the biggest cruisers deployed by the Indian Navy. Due to building and sea testing delays, the first ship in the group's initial service schedule was moved back from 2010 till 2014.

The destroyers are a development of the Project 15 [**Delhi**](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/93045/when-will-start-delhi-metro-after-lockdown)-class destroyers, but they are significantly more competent due to significant design changes, the addition of significant land-attack skills, the installation of contemporary detectors and military hardware, and the enlarged use of net-centric abilities such as Cooperative Engagement Capability.
