# How do I find and replace it in a PDF?

The Find toolbar looks through the [**PDF**](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/94938/how-do-you-delete-pages-in-a-pdf) that is presently open. Alternate text can be used to replace the search word selectively. One occurrence of text is **replaced** at a time. You can't make a global update to a PDF or numerous PDFs at once. \

1. **Select Edit > Find (Ctrl/Command+F)** from the drop-down menu.
2. In the Find toolbar's text field, type the text you wish to look for.
3. **To replace text,** expand the toolbar by **clicking Replace** With, then write the replacement text in the Replace With text box.
4. (Optional) Choose one or more of the following options by clicking the arrow adjacent to the text box:

**Only use whole sentences.** Only looks for occurrences of the entire term you type in the text box. If you search for the term stick, you won't find the words tick or sticky. \
**Case-Sensitive** Only occurrences of the terms with the capitalization you type are found. When you search for the word Web, for example, you won't find the words web or WEB. \
**Bookmarks should be included.** The text in the Bookmarks window is also searched. \
**Include any comments you have.** Searches the text of any comments as well. \

1. Next should be selected.
2. Acrobat automatically moves to the first incidence of the search term, which is underlined.
3. To edit the highlighted text, **click Replace,** or Next to move on to the next instance of the search word. Alternatively, you can go back to the previous instance by clicking Previous.
