# Can you write over a PDF file?

It's a little different than changing the existing text in a PDF [file](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/59/encrypting-and-decrypting-files-using-c-sharp), but it's still simple **- simply follow the steps below:**

1. In the Acrobat [**PDF**](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/95163/how-do-i-convert-multiple-files-to-pdf) Editor, **open your file.**
2. On the right side of the screen**, click Fill & Sign.**
3. **Select the Add Text tool,** which is represented by an upper-case 'A' and a lower-case 'b.'
4. **Start typing anywhere in the PDF where you'd like to add text.**
