# How do I copy text from a PDF?

The Snapshot tool creates an image of a selected region that you may paste into other programs. \

1. **Select Edit > Take a Snapshot** from the menu bar.
2. **Release the mouse button** after dragging a rectangle around the area you want to [copy](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/158787/what-are-rust-s-copy-and-clone-traits-and-when-are-they-used).
3. To exit Snapshot mode, **press the Esc key.**
4. To paste the copied [**pdf**](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/95129/how-do-you-convert-a-secured-pdf-to-word-on-windows-10) into another application, go to **Edit > Paste.\**
