If you're having difficulties opening PDF files on your Windows PC, **it's probably because you installed or updated Adobe Reader or Acrobat recently**. PDF not opening in [**Windows 10**](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/95129/how-do-you-convert-a-secured-pdf-to-word-on-windows-10) can, on the other hand, be caused by faults introduced by an operating system upgrade. Here are some of the reasons why you might be unable to open files in Adobe Reader or Acrobat: \

1. Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader PDF files that were not developed with Adobe software
2. **PDF files that have been damaged**
3. Acrobat or Adobe Reader may have corrupted PDF files containing harmful material.
