**Follow these procedures to install a new microphone:** \

1. Ascertain that your microphone is linked to your computer.
2. **Select Start > Settings > System > Sound** from the Start menu.
3. Select the [**microphone**](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/95007/how-do-i-set-up-a-microphone-on-windows-10) or recording device you want to use in the Choose your input device section in Sound settings.
4. To **check a microphone** that has previously been installed, do the following:
5. Ascertain that your microphone is linked to your computer.
6. Select **Start > Settings > System > Sound** from the Start menu.
7. Look for the blue bar that rises and falls when you talk into your microphone in Sound settings, Input, and Test your microphone. Your microphone is operating properly if the bar moves.
8. Select Troubleshoot to fix your microphone if you don't see the bar move.
