- Because the fault has been tied to **software [updates](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/51476/how-to-fix-an-iphone-se-that-won-t-update-ios-failed-to-update-software),** it's likely that updating your iPhone or iPad's iOS version would fix it. To do so, navigate to Settings, General, Software Update, and then select Download and Install if your device isn't running the latest software.
- **Restart FaceTime and iMessage FaceTime and iMessage both** require you to sign in using your Apple ID, which entails inputting your email address and password. If you sign out of both apps and then sign back in, you might be able to solve the problem. Going to Settings, then Messages, and touching the slider to switch Messages on or off is all it takes.
- Apps that require an email sign in, like as FaceTime and iMessage, can sometimes elicit unwelcome notifications. If an app needs to be updated, it may require your iCloud login.
