You **won't** be able to receive incoming calls or notifications after a few weeks of reduced operation, and WhatsApp will **stop sending messages** and calls to your phone,' WhatsApp explains in a FAQ. If users refuse to accept the upgrade, WhatsApp claims it would not destroy their accounts. so basically you will not be able use Whatsapp correctly so you have update it only is the last option
