- You can also use the MS Office Application Recovery feature to fix the Microsoft Word not responding error and recover unsaved documents. Open MS Office Application Recovery by going to **Start > All Programs > [Microsoft](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/95194/why-has-microsoft-outlook-stopped-working) Office Tools > MS Office Application Recovery.** When you see a list of currently running office apps, choose the document that isn't responding .Select 'Recover Application' from the drop-down menu and restore the document you were working on.
- **Microsoft Word should be uninstalled and reinstalled.-**Keep your Microsoft Office activation key and keep it to a safe location. Click 'Program and Features' in Control Panel, then find and pick Microsoft Office. In the top menu, select **'Uninstall.'** Reinstall Microsoft Office and use your serial key to activate it.
