The word is –**not only an explanation** but it’s a **compulsion over the people** of the nation because, with the help of a single word, many houses can be crushed out. As the word explains the **forceful enrolment** of the people in the military, which means the governing authority of the **Sovereignty** has the power to use the people in his way.\ \ **History** of the word ‘**conscription**’ This word is assumed to have existed even before the **[Egyptian Old Kingdom](https://www.britannica.com/place/ancient-Egypt)** which was in the **27th century, BCE.** Here the use of this word was limited and in some of the instances, it can be seen. But, in modern times it has been used mainly in the **17th and 18th centuries** by the countries of **Europe like Prussia, Switzerland, Russia,** etc. The **firs**t nationwide system of the word was **seen** during the **French Revolution** and it was used by the **French Republic** and later on, it was institutionalized by **Napoleon** when he became the **emperor in 1813**. After facing the **defeat in 1815** it was ended but after some time it was reconstituted and was used in a large quantity. \ **Conscription in India** The term conscription has a bad sense inside the meaning and the county which has democracy form of government should not force a citizen to do any act forcefully. And similarly, in India, there is no such requirement of this term exist in the nation. Including free living, the government has the provision to enroll the candidates in the military in the time of war. It can be seen during the time of ancient India when **India sent the 10000 soldiers forcefully to the other country and after the independence of the nation**, it happened during the **[war of Kargil](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/51814/when-was-the-kargil-war-fought)** and **1961** when India lost a lot of Soldiers in the war.
