The **first [woman Chief](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/62181/which-indian-state-had-the-first-woman-chief-minister) Justice of the Madras High Court** is [Kanta Kumari Bhatnagar](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kanta_Kumari_Bhatnagar). who **was appointed as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Madras in June 1992.** She also **Served in the High Court of Rajasthan for several years. She died at the age of 81 during the service at Rajasthan.** \
**Life’s overview** Kanta Kumari Bhatnagar was **born in 1930**. She was a prominent **Judge and an activist** in **[India](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/94202/who-was-the-first-woman-advocate-in-india)**. After becoming the first woman chief justice of the Madras High Court she also became the **first chairperson in the Rajasthan Human Rights Commission**. And later on, presided by **Indira Banerji**. She worked in the Madras High Court as a prominent judge. And, held that period for **almost 5 months.** She joined the Rajasthan in **2000.** She died at the age of **81 on 13 august 2011 in Udaipur after having a heart attack.** \
**Madras High Court** This High court is the second **oldest High Court of India**, it was established during the period of the **British Parliament in 1862**. The present building is inaugurated **on 18 July 1892**. And, the current acting Chief Justice of the Madras High Court is **Munishwar Nath Bhandari.** \
