**‘Judicial review of Confrontation’ is written by formal justice Hans Raj Khanna** \
**[Justice Hans Raj Khanna](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans_Raj_Khanna)** was a Jurist and an Advocate who established the Basic Doctrines in 1973. He wrote this **Book on 1 July 1977**. \

**Early life** Hans Raj Khanna was **born in [Amritsar, Punjab](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amritsar), in 1912,** his father was a great **Lawyer and a freedom fighter** who served the nation his soul and body both the name of his father is **Sarb Dyal Khanna.** The family of Khanna was in a trading tradition but the Sarb Dyal Khanna became the **leading Lawyer and later on the Mayor of Amritsar**. Hans Raj Khanna took a keen interest in the Law and completed his **schooling at DAV High School Amritsar**. After completing his art degree from the Amritsar he **married Uma Mehra in 1934** and then he pursued the Law from **Lahore University at 22.** \
**Judicial career** In January 1952 **he was appointed as the Chief Justice of Punjab** by **[Sir Eric Weston](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Weston)**. He served in the District Court of **Ferozepur and Ambala**. He became known for his important decision for convicting India’s leading Industrialist **[Ramkrishna Dalmia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramkrishna_Dalmia)** for corruption which resulted in the jail of **Tihar** for corruption. He also served as the chief justice of Delhi High Court from **1969 to 1971** and, then he was appointed as the **chief justice of the Supreme Court.** \
**Famous judgment** \
**[Keshavanand Bharti v. State of Kerala 1973](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kesavananda_Bharati_v._State_of_Kerala)** This was the remarkable case of his career including the **case of Habeas carpus,** in this case, the most Judges bench was constituted of **about 13 judges.** And the matter was whether the parliament has the power to amend the constitution or not. **The 7 judge**s were in **favor of YES** and **6 were on the NO**, Hans Raj Khanna was the person **who has decided that no the parliament doesn’t have the power to amend the basic structure of the [Constitution.](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/94201/where-is-the-unwritten-constitution-in-force)** \
**The Habeas carpus case** This is also the famous case of his life in which he declared the famous judgment about the emergency in the government of **Indira Gandhi from 1975 to 1977 and declared it unconstitutional.**
