In most of the globe, the name hockey refers to **[field hockey](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/47431/where-did-the-2006-winner-ice-hockey-take-place)**, although it commonly refers to**[ice hockey](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/47431/where-did-the-2006-winner-ice-hockey-take-place) in Canada**, the **[United States](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/92993/why-the-united-states-is-the-only-superpower), Russia, and much of Eastern and Northern Europe**.\
