[GSAT-3](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GSAT-3) is commonly known as the **`EDUSAT’** is a communication satellite that is used for the purpose of Education in the **development of institutions by providing the best knowledge and research work to the teaching faculty of the Nation**. It was launched on 20 September 2004 by the **[Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/94163/which-is-the-first-indian-remote-sensing-satellite)**. The EDUSAT is the first satellite that was built specifically for the Educational sector to make the learning of education possible in the distance mode. This satellite helped the Indian students and teaching faculty especially in the time of the pandemic, due to coronavirus. **The EDUSAT contains various spot beams. Data of their beam is as is follows.** 1 – SPOT BEAM – it contains s 5 ku band transponder 2 – NATIONAL BEAM – it contains 1 ku band transponder 3 – NATIONAL COVCOVERAGEAM – it contains 6 ku band transponder This satellite was successfully launched at the **[geosynchronous transfer orbit (GTO)](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/94167/who-was-the-first-indian-to-go-to-space)** and it was the first operation for the newly launched **geosynchronous satellite launch vehicle,** which was launched from the **[Satish Dhawan space center in Sriharikota.](https://www.shar.gov.in/sdscshar/index.jsp.)** It was initially placed in a [perigee](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apsis) of 180 km (110mi) and the apogee of 35,985km, the period of this is 10.5 hours, which is inclined at 19.2 degrees to the equator. This satellite `EDUSAT’ was rejected or decommissioned from its service in September 2010 and then resent to a Graveyard orbit for the new beginning of the ride. It was developed by ISRO at its satellite center, Bangalore, and the payloads of the satellite were developed by the space application center, Ahmedabad, Master Centre Facility (ISRO). [HASSAN](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hassan,_Karnataka) is the responsible body of all the launch operations of the satellite. The first inauguration of this Era of digital and innovative education was done by [Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A._P._J._Abdul_Kalam), the former President of India on 28 July 2005, in Thiruvanathapuram, he revolutionized the classrooms into new teaching and also launched the IT@school project, in Kerala for the new method of learning. \
