The first of its kind cruise service has been launched between **Surat and Diu** on **April, 2, 2021** by [Mansukh Mandaviya,](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mansukh_L._Mandaviya) **Union Minister of State for Ports, Transportation, and Waterways.** It runs from Surat's Hazira Port to [Gulf of Khambhat](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulf_of_Khambhat), Diu. The Union Minister flagged off launch via Video Conferencing on March, 31, 2021\

## Features which make it 'one-of-a-kind' :

- This cruise line has a capacity of 300 passengers and 16 cabins. It will make two weekly round trips. The voyage time will be roughly 13-14 hours between Surat and Diu.

- It is also equipped with a gaming lounge, VIP lounge and other modern amenities to cater to the entertainment of the passengers.

- The trip is nominally priced at Rs.900.\

The Union Minister said that the cruise line has been launched to develop coastal connectivity between Mumbai, Surat and Saurashtra via ferry services, RoPax Ferries and cruise line. India has an eastern coastline of 7,516.6 km approx. and with an intention to develop Maritime Sector, there have been many launches like the ferries, cruise lines, etc. Thus, choosing port cities like Surat and Diu for this cruise is a good decision.

Also, with the help of this, India can develop its inland and river waterways. It is also a major boost to Coastal Tourism in India.
